Celebrating Nearly a Year of Creativity, Community and Exciting Events in Ashford
We honestly cannot believe it has nearly been a year since we opened our doors for the very first time.
This time last year, the studio was still becoming a studio. We were building, painting, planning, lifting, cleaning, choosing colours, moving furniture, making signs, standing in the middle of the room trying to imagine what it would feel like once people finally arrived.
We had a dream for the space, of course. We wanted it to feel warm, welcoming and full of possibility. We wanted people to walk in and feel like they could relax, make something, try something new and leave feeling a little lighter than when they arrived.
Nearly 12 months on, that dream has turned into something far more special than we could have imagined.
We have now launched our brand-new events, including our 1st birthday party weekend, and we are heading into a packed run of seasonal fun from Halloween through to Christmas. Last year, we loved every bit of this period. This year, it feels even more exciting because we get to share it with our amazing regulars, friendly new faces and the creative community that has grown around the studio.
From bare walls to a place full of memories
When we think back to the early days, we remember the mess just as much as the excitement.
There were paint tins everywhere. Tools in strange places. Lists on lists on lists. Every corner needed a decision. Every task seemed to lead to three more tasks. It was exhausting at times, but it was also full of hope.
We were not just decorating a room. We were creating a place where people could come together.
That thought kept us going through the long days. We imagined friends sitting around a table, laughing over paintbrushes. We imagined families making memories during school holidays. We imagined people arriving nervous for their first session and leaving proud of what they had made. We imagined evenings full of colour, conversation and a little bit of fizz.
Now, those things are not just ideas. They have happened here, again and again.

A first birthday feels like a big moment.
Not because we are looking back and ticking off achievements, but because it gives us a reason to pause and say, “Look what this community has helped create.”
The launch of our new events includes our 1st birthday party weekend, and we are so excited to celebrate it properly. After months of regular sessions, themed nights and special workshops, it feels only right to mark the occasion with the people who have made the space what it is.
There is something lovely about a birthday in a creative studio. It is not just cake and decorations, although we are always happy to make things feel festive. It is a chance to bring together the regulars, the newcomers, the families, the friends, the people who came for a one-off event and somehow became part of the story.

Halloween is bringing a new kind of magic to the studio
After the birthday celebrations, the studio moves into one of the most playful parts of the year.
Halloween gives us so much to work with. It is bold, silly, spooky, creative and full of imagination. It is the perfect excuse to make something a little different, try unusual colours and lean into the fun of the season.
For us, Halloween is not about making everything scary. It is about atmosphere. Think pumpkins, ghosts, rich autumn colours, glowing details and the kind of creations that make people smile when they take them home.
It is also a brilliant time for families, friends and groups looking for something a bit different to do in Ashford. A creative event gives people a reason to gather without needing to sit still or make small talk for hours. Everyone has something to focus on, and the conversation usually follows naturally.
That is one of our favourite things about creative sessions. The activity takes the pressure off. People can chat, laugh, concentrate, ask for help, show off their progress or quietly enjoy the process.
By the end, there is always a table full of completely different results, even when everyone started with the same idea. That never stops being lovely.
Christmas at the studio is going to feel bigger this year
Last Christmas was special for us. It was our first festive season in the studio, and we loved it.
There is something about Christmas and creativity that fits so naturally together. Handmade decorations, painted gifts, festive nights out, cosy sessions, friends getting together before the rush of December takes over, it all brings a warmth that is hard to describe.
This year, it is going to be even better.
We now have a whole year of experience behind us. We know what people loved. We know how the studio feels when it is full of festive energy. We know how much joy comes from seeing people make something personal rather than picking something ready-made from a shelf.
Most of all, we now have our regulars and newcomers to share it with.
Christmas can get busy very quickly. Diaries fill up. Work events appear. Family plans take over. That is why creative sessions can be such a lovely choice for festive get-togethers. They give people time to slow down and actually enjoy being together.

Starting something new can feel daunting, especially when it comes from a dream you have carried for a long time. You hope people will understand what you are trying to create. You hope they will feel welcome. You hope they will want to come back.
The response has been more than we ever expected.
From the regular sessions to the sip and paint nights, from our special events to quiet creative moments, everyone who has spent time here has helped shape the studio.
People have come in with friends, partners, children, parents, colleagues and sometimes on their own. Some have arrived saying they are “not creative at all”, then left smiling with something they made themselves. Some have come back again and again, not just for the activity, but for the feeling of being part of something kind and welcoming.
That means everything to us.
Creativity has a way of turning strangers into friends
One of the most beautiful surprises of the past year has been the friendships.
We hoped the studio would feel friendly, but we could not have known just how much connection would grow here. Creativity has a gentle way of bringing people together. When people sit side by side with brushes, colours and ideas in front of them, the atmosphere changes.
Conversations begin easily. People compliment each other’s work. Someone asks what colour another person used. Someone laughs at a mistake that turns into the best part of the piece. Someone who arrived quietly starts chatting halfway through the session.
These moments may seem small, but they are the moments that make a place feel alive.
We have seen people encourage each other, help each other and celebrate each other’s finished pieces. We have watched confidence build across a session. We have watched nervous first-timers relax. We have watched regulars welcome new people as if they had always been part of the group.
That is the community we dreamed of. A community built around creativity and kindness.
There is so much more to come
Nearly a year in, the studio already holds so many memories. Yet it still feels like we are just getting started.
The launch of our new events feels like the perfect way to step into the next chapter. We have our 1st birthday party weekend, Halloween fun, Christmas events and plenty more creative moments ahead. Each season gives us a new reason to gather, make, celebrate and try something different.
