Let's be honest.
Before people book their first pottery painting session, they usually have a few doubts rolling around in their head...
"Is it expensive?"
"Can I actually use what I make?"
"Will I feel awkward coming on my own?"
"How on earth do people keep coming back every week?"
So rather than letting these myths stop you from experiencing one of the most relaxing and rewarding activities around, let's set the record straight...
🚫 MYTH #1: "There must be loads of hidden costs."
FALSE.
One of the biggest misconceptions we hear.
Your studio fee/event ticket covers:
✅ Your seat✅ Paints✅ Paintbrushes✅ Glazing✅ Kiln firing
The only things you'll pay for on the day are:
• The pottery item you choose (from our huge range of £5 - £60)
• Any drinks you'd like from our menu• Any food or snacks you'd like
That's it.
And on our adult-only Friday night sessions, we even include a free drink up to the value of £5.
Some events also include food or drinks as part of the ticket price, and if they do, we'll always make that crystal clear in the event description.
No surprises. No sneaky extras. No hidden costs.
🚫 MYTH #2: "The pottery is just decorative. You can't actually use it."
FALSE.
In fact, this is one of our favourite myths to bust.
I personally use pottery I've painted here at home every single day.
Coffee cups.
Plates.
Bowls.
Spoon rests.
Butter dishes.
The lot.
Unlike many studios, every single item is professionally glazed before firing, making it:
✅ Food safe✅ Heat resistant✅ Weatherproof✅ Built to be loved and used
Even outdoor pieces such as bird boxes, garden ornaments and plant pots can live outside all year round.
The only thing we'd suggest is bringing outdoor items inside during periods of frost or icy weather, just as a precaution.
So yes...
This isn't pottery that sits on a shelf gathering dust.
It's pottery that becomes part of your life.
🚫 MYTH #3: "People come once and never come back."
FALSE.
Actually, the opposite is true.
We have an incredible community of regular painters known as the Coleman's Crew.
Some people are building complete kitchen collections one piece at a time.
Some people are creating gifts for birthdays or Christmas.
Families use us as their regular quality time away from screens and distractions.
And we even have customers who book back-to-back sessions and spend the whole day creating.
Why?
Because the studio isn't just somewhere to paint pottery.
It's a place to switch off.
A place to slow down.
A place where nobody expects anything from you for a couple of hours.
Just creativity, conversation and time for yourself.
🚫 MYTH #4: "You don't have a loyalty scheme."
FALSE.
In fact, some of our customers are already on their sixth loyalty card!
Here's how it works:
✅ Visit us and receive your loyalty card✅ Get a stamp each time you attend✅ Collect 5 stamps✅ Receive £10 off your next pottery item
*Stamps not given for holding shelf return visits unless new purchase is made
Simple.
The more you paint, the more rewards you unlock.
🚫 MYTH #5: "It takes forever to get my pottery back."
NOT QUITE.
There is a process... but it's worth every minute.
After you've painted your masterpiece:
It dries for 24 hours
It is glazed
It dries again
It is prepared for firing
It spends around 16 hours in the kiln
We finish, inspect and wrap it
We send you your collection message
The whole process generally takes 7-10 days.
Sometimes it's quicker.
Sometimes school holidays and busy periods mean it takes a little longer.
But we promise we're not just hiding your pottery in the back room.
There's a lot of magic happening behind the scenes!
🚫 MYTH #6: "I can't come on my own."
ABSOLUTELY FALSE.
This is exactly why we opened.
We wanted to create a community.
A place where people could escape loneliness.
A place where everyone feels welcome.
Many of our regular customers paint solo, especially during our midweek sessions.
Some enjoy a quiet creative escape.
Others love chatting with neighbouring tables.
There is no pressure.
No expectation.
No awkwardness.
Just come exactly as you are.
🚫 MYTH #7: "Everything sells out before I hear about it."
Unfortunately... this one is often true. 😅

We've worked hard to build a menu that complements your creative experience.
From hot drinks and cold drinks to alcoholic options and cocktails, there's plenty to choose from.
We've recently added customer-requested favourites including:

And we'll continue adding new options based on what our customers ask for.
🚫 MYTH #9: "If I don't finish in 2.5 hours, I've wasted my money."
FALSE.
No stress. No pressure. No frantic last-minute brush strokes.
If you don't finish your pottery during your session, we simply place it on our holding shelf and keep it safe for up to 4 weeks while you book a return visit to complete your masterpiece.
This means you can confidently choose one of our larger pieces without worrying about racing against the clock.
The only additional cost is the booking fee for your next session to secure your seat.
Because creating something you're proud of should be enjoyable... not a speed-painting competition. 🎨✨
